OpenAI is finally bringing its ChatGPT desktop app to Linux — a month after Anthropic beat it to the punch with Claude.
The Linux version is out in preview, and it packs ChatGPT, Work, and Codex into a single application. Linux users are getting the same desktop experience that macOS and Windows have had for a while.
Supported distributions include Ubuntu 24.04 and 26.04 LTS, Debian 13, and Fedora 43 and 44, with x64 and ARM64 builds.
Anthropic shipped Claude's Linux desktop app about a month ago. Now that OpenAI has followed suit, both AI desktop apps officially cover Linux.
