Apple's new CEO: AI will let us do things 'only possible in sci-fi'

Apple's new CEO John Ternus recently shared his vision for artificial intelligence with employees.

During an all-hands meeting, Ternus promised that the company would make progress in AI. At the same time, Tim Cook reiterated that the software team is upgrading Siri, with a new version coming in June at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) as part of iOS 27.

Though his remarks were vague, Ternus did outline his thoughts on AI and how it will impact Apple's future. He broke it down into two areas: first, how AI can help with existing work, and second, how it will affect the company's products, services, and capabilities.

On products and services, Ternus emphasized that Apple has always used technology to create extraordinary experiences. "We're not just shipping technology for technology's sake," he said.

He expressed excitement about the wave of AI, saying, "It will allow us to do things that only exist in science fiction. Now we see a path to get there, and that's incredibly exciting."

Internally, Ternus believes AI has clear potential to change how Apple works. "We've accumulated massive amounts of data over the years, and I think that data will help us extract information, query data, and understand how to make our products better. As I said before, I believe this is the most exciting building period I've ever experienced."
