The Wall Street Journal reports that Anthropic is preparing to tell IPO investors the total market for all the work AI could eventually do is worth more than $30 trillion — a bigger number than the $28.5 trillion SpaceX has floated for the same opportunity.
That figure isn't Anthropic's own revenue prediction. It's a theoretical calculation: add up the value of every job that could be handed off to AI, and you get a sense of the prize. In other words, $30 trillion is how much of the global economy Anthropic thinks AI might eventually swallow.
That framing is already drawing side-eye. For comparison, the 191 tech companies in the S&P 1500 brought in combined revenue of just $2.4 trillion last year.
Anthropic's own growth is undeniably fast, though. Its annualized revenue topped $65 billion at the end of July, up from $47 billion in May. The company also expects to hit $190 billion to $200 billion in revenue by 2028.
The startup could raise as much as $100 billion in an IPO at a target valuation of around $2 trillion, with a listing potentially arriving as soon as September or October.
