On May 6, 2026, Anthropic inked a computing deal with Elon Musk's SpaceX, unlocking access to the Colossus supercomputer. The result? Claude Code quotas are doubling, and peak-hour throttling is being eliminated for subscribers.

Anthropic announced a new computing partnership with SpaceX, giving it full access to SpaceX's Colossus supercomputer. Starting May 2026, Anthropic will tap over 300 megawatts of new computing power — more than 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs. That extra muscle will help raise usage limits for Claude Pro and Claude Max subscribers.
This isn't Anthropic's first infrastructure shopping spree. In November 2025, it partnered with Fluidstack to invest $50 billion in US AI infrastructure, and teamed up with Microsoft and NVIDIA for $30 billion in Azure capacity. On April 6, 2026, it signed a deal with Google and Broadcom to secure TPU processors — a move that included a pledged $200 billion to Google Cloud over five years, according to recent reports. And on April 20, it announced plans to invest over $100 billion in Amazon's AI chips over the next decade — enough to bring Anthropic's total compute capacity to roughly 1 gigawatt by the end of 2026.

All these contracts add up to a massive compute boost — so much that AI startups Anthropic and OpenAI now account for about half of the $2 trillion revenue backlog across the four major US cloud providers, according to The Information. This extra capacity makes it possible for Anthropic to raise limits on Claude Code and the Claude API. For paid subscribers — Pro and Max, Team, and Enterprise — Claude Code quotas are doubled. Pro and Max users also lose the peak-time throttling that was previously applied. And Claude Opus API rate limits are getting a bump too.

Anthropic says the push is partly driven by enterprise customers in regulated industries like finance, healthcare, and government, who need localized infrastructure for compliance and data residency. "We are very deliberate about where we deploy capital," the company said. "We are partnering with democratic nations that have the legal and regulatory frameworks to support investments of this scale, and we are securing supply chains for hardware, networking, and facilities."
