AWS just launched Amazon Quick, a desktop app that acts as a cross-app AI work assistant. It sits in the background, connecting to your local files, calendar, email, and third-party tools like Slack, Teams, Outlook, Gmail, Salesforce, and Jira — not just Amazon's own products.
Quick stands out from most AI assistants in two ways. First, it has long-term memory: it indexes your documents, builds a personal knowledge graph for each user, remembers preferences, team contacts, and business context, and keeps that memory across sessions. Second, it's proactive: it runs in the background, monitors what's happening in your apps, and pushes to-do reminders, meeting-related documents, and scheduling conflict warnings before you even ask.
New features include: creating custom apps, dashboards, and web pages using natural language, all connected to live data that updates automatically; generating documents, PowerPoints, infographics, and images directly in conversations; a Microsoft 365 extension (preview) that embeds Quick into Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; and the ability to automate browser workflows and connect to developer tools like Kiro CLI and Claude Code.
The launch comes as Amazon prepares to bring OpenAI models to its Bedrock platform within weeks, signaling a broader push into enterprise AI.
