Sand.ai, a video-generation model company founded in January 2024, announced it has closed two funding rounds totaling more than $100 million. It is sticking with the autoregressive video-generation route, and plans to release an open-source Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) model in July. Investors include Look Capital, Lollapalooza Capital (the family office of Wang Huiwen), Jiukun Venture Capital, Matrix Partners China, MSA Capital, Sinovation Ventures, Source Code Capital, IDG, and Baidu Ventures. Xinghan Capital served as financial advisor. In an interview, founder Cao Yue said the team has always held to the autoregressive approach, which is widely seen as non-consensus.
