Japanese AI startup Sakana AI has released a multi-agent coordination system called Fugu that uses a single API to dynamically orchestrate a mix of existing models. In several academic, reasoning, and coding benchmarks, the top-tier Fugu Ultra configuration scored higher than Anthropic's flagship Fable 5 and Mythos Preview. But here's the twist: Fable 5 and Mythos Preview aren't even in Fugu's underlying model pool. Fugu achieved its results purely by orchestrating models like GPT-5.5, Gemini, and others.
