Nobel laureate John Jumper is leaving Google DeepMind. The DeepMind vice president and AlphaFold team lead announced he will join Anthropic. Jumper spent nearly nine years at DeepMind, where he spearheaded the development of AlphaFold, earning the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry alongside CEO Demis Hassabis.
Just one day earlier, Noam Shazeer — former co-leader of Gemini and a co-author of the landmark "Attention Is All You Need" paper — also left the company.
