OpenRouter just put a new anonymous frontier model live, and its name is Ox Alpha. It's positioned for coding, long-running agent work, and real production workloads, with a 1 million-token context window and support for text, image, and video inputs. The model is free to test right now, and the provider says it won't use your prompts or outputs for training.
Who's actually behind Ox Alpha? The community has a strong hunch: Xiaomi's MiMo team. Xiaomi CFO Lin Shiwei previously teased that a new-generation MiMo model is already in training and could ship soon.
Anonymous model drops on OpenRouter have practically become a regular routine for Chinese AI labs. Before this, Zhipu's GLM-5, Xiaomi's MiMo-V2-Pro and MiMo-V2-Omni, Ant Group's Ling-2.6-flash, and Meituan's LongCat-2.0 all ran on OpenRouter under borrowed names before revealing their real identities.
