OpenAI senior researcher Noam Brown says developers shouldn't pour too much energy into complex agent frameworks (harnesses). As model capabilities ramp up fast, many features that depend on frameworks today could become native abilities in just a few months.
Brown recommends keeping frameworks simple and letting the model handle more of the work. OpenAI enterprise product chief Alexander Embiricos has also said the company avoids hand-building capabilities that future models should come with out of the box.
