Amazon is about to put OpenAI models directly into the hands of AWS Bedrock customers — and it's happening in a matter of weeks.
CEO Andy Jassy confirmed the timeline on X, adding that the launch will also include a joint Stateful Runtime Environment, which lets AI agents maintain memory and context across multi-step tasks — OpenAI's Codex has already shown how agents can autonomously interact with UIs to find and fix bugs.

This is the first concrete result of OpenAI's revised agreement with Microsoft. Previously, Microsoft held exclusive rights to host OpenAI's closed-source models via its Azure platform, meaning AWS couldn't offer them directly. The day the revised deal was announced, Jassy said the stateful runtime and model availability would move from "the next few months" to "the next few weeks."
OpenAI signed its strategic partnership with Amazon back in February, when Amazon committed up to $50 billion — with the initial $15 billion already transferred. The two also signed an 8-year, $100 billion AWS compute expansion deal, under which OpenAI agreed to use about 2GW of Trainium compute.
