OpenAI launches ChatGPT Work, an agent that automates your workflow

OpenAI just launched ChatGPT Work, a new agent inside ChatGPT powered by Codex and GPT-5.6.

It doesn't just answer questions — it takes over entire workflows. Give it a goal, and it can read your connected apps and files to generate documents, spreadsheets, slides, analysis reports, and even web apps.

ChatGPT Work connects to Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Drive, SharePoint, email, calendars, CRMs, and project management tools. You can also @-mention an app to pull context from it.

But the bigger news might be on the desktop: the standalone Codex app is being folded into the new ChatGPT desktop app. That means the desktop version will now offer Chat, Work, Codex, and a built-in browser all in one place.

ChatGPT Work is rolling out now to Pro, Enterprise, and Edu users. Plus and Business users will get access in the coming days. And the desktop features — Chat, Work, and Codex — are available across all plans, including free users.
