AI evaluation and observability company Gentrace's co-founder and CEO Doug Safreno announced on X that he has joined Anthropic. Gentrace helped businesses test and monitor LLM output quality. It raised an $8 million Series A led by Matrix (totaling $14 million) before shutting down at the end of last year.

Safreno said co-founder and CTO Vivek Nair had already joined Anthropic. Nair and a friend at Anthropic, Yongxing Deng, convinced Safreno to follow, citing Anthropic's speed and values.
Meanwhile, Anthropic has been making strategic moves with its products, such as quietly testing restrictions on Claude Code access.
