Tian Yonglong, a former researcher at OpenAI and Google DeepMind, has joined Tencent's Hunyuan team to work on vision-language models. Tian holds a bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University and a PhD from MIT, and previously served as a senior research scientist at Google Research and DeepMind, focusing on computer vision and generative models. He is the latest high-profile Chinese AI researcher to join Tencent, following chief AI scientist Yao Shunyu, who was recruited last December and recently led the release of the Hunyuan Hy3 model.
