Coursera is pouring $100 million into LearnVector, an AI education company founded by its own chairman Andrew Ng, in exchange for roughly a third of the startup.
LearnVector plans to build an AI tutor that adapts content to each learner's progress, drilling them until they've truly mastered the material. The first products are expected to launch in early 2027.
As part of the deal, Coursera will open up its course catalog and global user base to LearnVector. The startup is targeting working professionals and other adults — it won't be entering K-12 or higher education just yet.
Because Ng is both Coursera's co-founder and chairman, the investment is a related-party transaction. To handle that, Coursera formed an independent board committee to review the deal.
