Anthropic is turning the Claude in Chrome sidebar into a full Claude Cowork session. Now that sessions save directly to your account, you can start in the browser and pick the work back up on the desktop client, the web, or your phone.
The Chrome version also gets Cowork's Skills, plugins, and connectors. It can read web pages, click buttons, type text, and fill out forms. Tasks that involve local files — or that ask Claude to actively take over your computer — still require Claude Desktop to stay connected.
Anthropic already expanded Cowork to web and mobile back in July. With the Chrome sidebar now folding into the same cross-device session flow, Cowork has grown from a standalone desktop agent into one that can follow you across browser, computer, and phone.
The updated sidebar is available for Max and Team users now, with Pro coming over the next few weeks. Enterprise access will need to be enabled by an admin.
