Anthropic announced that as of July 20, Claude Fable 5 is officially part of its Max and Team Premium plans. Users can allocate up to 50% of their plan quota to Fable 5 — and there's no more temporary expiration date.
Pro and Team Standard users still get access to Fable 5 on a pay-per-use basis, and Anthropic is giving them a one-time $100 credit.
When Fable 5 launched, Anthropic only promised free access until June 22. The model was then paused due to US export controls, resumed on July 1, and the deadline for plan access was extended from July 7 to July 12, then again to July 19. Anthropic has consistently said demand is hard to predict and it needs to gradually ramp up compute capacity.
The timing is hard not to notice: Kimi K3 has just closed the gap on several coding and agent benchmarks, even surpassing Fable 5 in some areas. Competitive pressure may have accelerated Anthropic's decision, though there's no direct evidence.
