Anthropic just dropped a big update for its AI design and prototyping tool, Claude Design, and the headline feature is all about bridging the gap between design and development. The new version introduces deep bidirectional sync with Claude Code, Anthropic's terminal-based dev assistant. In Claude Code, developers can run the /design-sync command to pull real design system specs from a local codebase and import them into Claude Design projects — or just use /design to create and sync designs directly from the terminal. That means generated designs can natively match existing components and themes, and when a design is ready, it can be handed off to Claude Code with a single click for code generation and implementation.

On top of that, Claude Design has overhauled its design system import tool. It can now analyze and extract design specs from GitHub repos, design files, or local codebases, and automatically validate them before output. The editor itself is more stable too, with new layout controls for dragging, resizing, and aligning elements directly on the canvas. You can also export designs to PDF and PowerPoint. On the management side, Team and Enterprise plans get an Admin role so design leads can lock down official design systems to maintain brand consistency. And Claude Design now shares usage quotas with other Claude products, with optimized token consumption. The update is available in beta on web and desktop for paid users.
