Engineers' daily workflow is shifting toward managing multiple agents. Cherny reveals that nearly half of all programming work now happens on a phone. Using Claude Code's new agent view, desktop app, and upgraded remote control features, engineers can kick off and monitor concurrent agents from their phone—effectively "coding over coffee."
The two also introduced a development philosophy they call "context minimalism." At the frontier model stage, complex prompt engineering and context management are no longer necessary. Developers should give agents the bare minimum of system prompts and tools, letting the model find the optimal solution on its own. AI is also blurring the line between product managers and engineers—non-technical team members are writing code directly, while engineers can own product development and compliance releases end-to-end.
