Canva just dropped AI Assistant 2.0, pushing generative AI deeper into its design workflow.
Users can now describe what they need in a text prompt, and the AI will automatically call up the right tools to spit out a fully editable design. You get layer controls and can tweak everything to your heart's content.
Canva AI 2.0 also picked up a bunch of new integrations: Slack, Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, and Zoom. With permission, it can scan your emails, chat logs, files, and meeting details to better understand the context of a task before generating content. There's even a built-in web search function, so it can go hunting online for reference material on its own.
Existing AI tools got some love, too. The AI code generator now supports HTML imports, and you can describe a spreadsheet you need and have it built from text. Under the hood, the Lucid Origin image generation model is five times faster and 30% cheaper to run. The 12V image-to-video model is seven times faster with costs cut by 17%.
"A lot of our enterprise customers prefer to do the final editing, collaboration, and publishing inside Canva," said Cliff Obrecht, Canva's co-founder and COO. "The AI assistant is really there for that initial content creation."
Canva AI 2.0 is launching in a research preview, with plans to roll it out to all users in the coming weeks.
