AI company Anthropic just launched a new design tool called Claude Design on April 17, 2026. It’s basically a design assistant for the rest of us—you don’t need to know a thing about Figma or color theory. Just tell it what you want in plain English, and it’ll spit out a polished UI mockup or a slick slide deck.
Claude Design taps into the visual recognition smarts of Claude Opus 4.7, Anthropic’s latest flagship model. Describe the interface or presentation you need in natural language, and it generates a high-fidelity draft. You can even feed it your company’s existing codebase or design files, and it’ll automatically create assets that match your internal design system.

How it works
When Claude Design generates a draft, it also creates a contextual menu for tweaking colors and other elements on the fly. You can ask it to add missing components, too. For example, tell it to “add a dark mode toggle switch.”

It’ll drop in the toggle and generate a complete dark mode color palette alongside it.

Beyond UI: slide decks, too
It’s not just for app screens. Claude Design can whip up professional-looking presentation slides.

You can instruct the AI to swap out image types or chart styles, and you’re free to manually edit font sizes and text content directly.

Export and integration
Finished designs can be exported as PDF, PPTX, or HTML files. They can also be sent directly to Canva or Claude Code for further work.

Design system persistence
Every design you create gets saved as part of a reusable design system. That means your styles, components, and layouts can be pulled into future projects or shared with other users in your organization, keeping everything consistent.

Availability
Claude Design is available to subscribers of Claude’s Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. This launch follows closely on the heels of Claude Opus 4.7, which brought major upgrades in coding and visual reasoning. You can check out the help page for more details.
