Alibaba's Qwen team has announced the upcoming release of Qwen3.8, an open-weight model. The preview version, Qwen3.8-Max-Preview, is already available with Token Plan, Qoder, and QoderWork, and boasts a whopping 2.4 trillion parameters.
Compared to Qwen3.7-Max, the new model focuses on improving code engineering and professional office productivity. It's designed for long-horizon tasks like full-stack development, data analysis, and Office workflows. Alibaba hasn't yet released a technical report or full benchmark results.
Qwen claims Qwen3.8 can compete with leading frontier models, trailing only Fable 5 in capability.
