Reuters exclusively revealed today the specific list and quotas for H200 chip transactions in China. About 10 Chinese companies have been approved to buy, with confirmed buyers including Alibaba, Tencent, ByteDance, and JD.com; Lenovo and Foxconn are approved as distributors. Under the US license, each customer can buy up to 75,000 units.
But none of these chips have shipped yet. China refuses to accept the Trump administration's requirement that the chips transit through the US to extract a 25% fee, and worries that doing so could lead to hardware tampering — so it directly halted procurement. To break the deadlock, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang abruptly accepted Trump's invitation to join the White House delegation to China, which he wasn't originally part of, and will try to resolve the issue face-to-face during high-level meetings this week.
