OpenAI is testing a new model line codenamed Astra, and this week it gave US officials an early look. The Information reports, citing three people familiar with the matter, that Astra is designed to let multiple AI agents work together for long stretches on complex projects and difficult math problems. It's being developed alongside Sol, Terra, and Luna.
CEO Sam Altman demoed Astra to policymakers and regulators in Washington this week. There's still no word on when it might actually ship.
Astra is just a working title, and OpenAI hasn't decided which GPT generation it will ultimately join.
