As of April 2026, Deezer sees about 75,000 AI-generated tracks uploaded daily, accounting for roughly 44% of its daily uploads. That translates to roughly 2 million AI songs per month.

A year ago, in April 2025, the company reported only 20,000 daily AI uploads. The new figure represents a fourfold increase in just 12 months.

The detection and suppression game

Deezer developed a tool in January 2025 to detect AI-generated music. When it identifies a track as AI-made, it tags it and excludes it from algorithmic recommendations. As a result, AI music only accounts for 1% to 3% of total user listening time on the platform.

Here's the kicker: about 85% of that AI listening time is fraudulent, generated by bots or fake streams, and has been demonetized. Deezer says the primary purpose of uploading AI tracks to streaming platforms is "clearly fraudulent activity," and it's keeping them out of recommendations to "protect creator revenue."

The quality is getting scary good

AI music quality has improved dramatically. In a December 2025 survey by Deezer, only about 3% of people could reliably tell the difference between an AI-generated track and one made by a human.

What listeners want

Despite the quality, listeners want transparency. About 80% of users believe AI-generated music should be clearly labeled, and 52% think AI and human-made music should be separated into different charts. Deezer is now licensing its AI detection technology to other platforms to help them identify synthetic tracks.

Deezer CEO Alexis Lantiernière said, "We hope the entire music industry will act with Deezer to protect artists' rights and ensure transparency for fans." This push for industry-wide standards comes as other AI tools, like OpenAI's Agents SDK, are becoming more sophisticated, raising questions about how platforms will manage the coming wave of synthetic content.
