DeepSeek CEO Rules Out Super Apps, Bets Everything on AGI
Media outlet elsewhere compiled 52 statements from Liang Wenfeng during a four-hour investor meeting. According to Liang, DeepSeek is pushing forward on a single track: AGI. This year's focus is on general-purpose agents, next is continuous learning, and further down the line are AI self-iteration and embodied intelligence.
He explicitly ruled out 3D, video generation, and world models — and has no interest in building the next super app. Multimodal capabilities, hallucination mitigation, and industry-specific agents will continue to be developed, but they're not the priority right now. Products, he said, are merely stepping stones toward AGI.
On the business side, DeepSeek isn't chasing user numbers or profit maximization. It will remain open-source and low-priced. Liang believes competition in large language models is first about cost, then about time, and finally about user experience. The only non-negotiable is team stability.
