Lambda, the AI cloud provider backed by Nvidia, has raised roughly $1 billion in private short-term debt to purchase compute chips for its work with Microsoft, according to people familiar with the matter.
The deal, led by J.P. Morgan, was pitched to private placement investors, the people said. The funds will be used to buy Nvidia GPUs, which Lambda will then lease to Microsoft.
