Honor's MagicOS team announced today that its YOYO AI agent has achieved the first A2A (agent-to-agent) integration with WeChat. Users can long-press the power button to wake YOYO and say things like "Send a WeChat message to XX" or "Call XX on WeChat" — the system agent then directly triggers the WeChat app to execute the task. The feature is rolling out to all Honor devices. It's the first fruit of WeChat's system-level "A2A Assistant" partnership with phone makers.
Technically, this is a direct interface call between the OS-level agent and the WeChat app — fundamentally different from prior integrations with apps like Meitu, Didi, Meituan, and Ctrip, which used WeChat's internal "AI ecosystem" (mini-programs or in-app service calls). This collaboration ditches the old approach of unauthorized simulated clicks (GUI automation) or screen-reading (OCR). Instead, the system AI parses the user's intent, sends instructions to WeChat over an encrypted protocol, and WeChat executes them in the background. For privacy, there's a dual authorization mechanism (user grant + app grant); the first use and sensitive operations require manual confirmation. Currently, only message sending and voice/video calling are supported — features like Moments (WeChat's social feed) and money transfers are strictly locked down.
To use it, you'll need the latest MagicOS update, YOYO agent version 90.10.30.063 or newer, and WeChat version 8.0.72 or newer. WeChat is also working on similar A2A capabilities with Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo. The rollout of the A2A protocol breaks down the barriers between super apps and phone operating systems, signaling a shift from "guarding entrances" to protocol-based co-building and intent distribution — a move that could reshape how mobile traffic flows in the AI era.
